Advice

Finding the perfect blinds and curtains is easy – with the help of expert advice. You’ll find answers to the most common questions below.

And for all other queries, you’ll get specific advice from one of our experts during an in-home appointment.

Does your room feature a bay window?

Bay windows provide a beautiful focal point in your home. If you are lucky enough to have this stunning feature in your room, your SLX advisor can help you to make the most of it. We offer a range of curved curtain poles and tracks which will accommodate the shape of the bay.

Do you live in a period property with draughty windows?

All of our curtains are fully-lined as standard, to stop the fabric from fading and help it to hang beautifully. If your home can be a bit draughty, you may want to consider upgrading to a thermal lining. The material features a special coating which helps to prevent heat loss from your windows, resulting in a snug effect and in some cases, lower utility bills.

Is unwanted light interrupting your sleep?

If you are looking for a window dressing for your bedroom, you might want to consider swapping the standard curtain lining for a blackout fabric. In this, three separate coatings are applied to the base cloth to reduce light and help ensure a good night’s sleep.

Would you like to create a layered effect?

Layering curtains and Roman blinds together at one window can provide a lovely snug impression. Many of our curtains are available with matching Roman blinds. This means you can choose two complementary fabrics for a coordinated look, or mix different colours and textures for an eclectic style.

Are you searching for accessories to complement your curtains?

Our range of matching accessories can provide the perfect finishing touch to your room once you have chosen your favourite curtains fabric. We offer coordinating cushions, tie backs and valances to help you create a truly unique look, as well as decorative poles and finials.

Do you have any tips for choosing carpets and curtains that match?

For a neutral carpet, you can choose curtains in pretty much any colour or pattern and feel confident about the results. Striped carpets are eye catching, so it makes sense to let them work their magic and go for slightly subdued curtains.

Matching coloured carpets with curtains is a touch trickier and you’d be best seeing how they look together. And that’s exactly what you can do during an in-home appointment with SLX.
